District 27-B1 District Convention

 DISTRICT 27-B1 LIONS
 42nd Annual Convention
 NOVEMBER 10 & 11, 2017   HOLIDAY INN, MANITOWOC

Lions and Lioness of 27-B1 and friends of B1 held their 42nd Annual Convention of District 27-B1 at the Holiday Inn in Manitowoc. Our guest was PID Jerimiah "Doc" Myers from Kodiak, Alaska. The theme of the conference was "The Power of We.  We Serve."

Registration was 206 Lions, Lioness and guests.  168 were at the luncheon and 50 at the evening banquet.

Every club was asked to bring a gift to be included in our successful “Bucket Raffle.”

Friday began with the cabinet meeting and a Hospitality Party.  The Kiel Lions brought their Casino Night equipment and dealt a lot of Blackjack and Roulette.  The opening business session began Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. with a flag ceremony with the flags carried in by Lions who are Veterans accompanied by Cub Lions from Winnebago East Shore. 

Three clubs were presented with President's Certificates of Appreciation., Appleton Noon for their Vision Screening program, Larsen-Winchester for their Ramp Building project and Stockbridge for taking the piers in and out up at Lions Camp.

The passing of 31 Lions and 1 Lioness were recognized at the Necrology Service. 

$29,000 was donated by clubs at the Parade of Checks.  The Fairwater Lions Club bid the highest for the Bell at $4,500.

Outstanding seminars were held before and after the luncheon banquet.  We heard about school nurses talking about vision screening, organ donation and the need for non-prescription Epipens, the prison puppy project for Leader Dogs, the Restoring Hope Transplant House and eye tissue transplants.

  • 73 delegates voted - results of the voting are:
    Dave Lee as District Governor Elect
    Michael De Baere as First Vice District Governor Elect
    There was no nomination for Second Vice District Governor Elect

  • Poy Sippi Lions was elected for 2018-2019 District Bowling.

  • Pin Design # 1 won the 2019 district pin contest.

  • Poster #2, Raelyn Hansen, Rosendale Intermediate School won the Peace Poster contest2nd place   Robert Winkel sponsored by Elkhart Lake Lions, 3rd place Grace Schwaller sponsored by Random Lake Lions.

  • The District resolution for dues increase of $1.50 for leadership passed unanimously.

  • Advisory vote for the 2018 convention on November 9 & 10 - Radisson Paper Valley, Appleton.

  • There are 6 winners with $1,624 being disbursed.1st place Mary Brethoewer, 2nd place New Holstein Lions, 3rd place Plainfield Lions, 4th place Jerome Wagner, 5th place Kingston Lioness and 6th place Neshkoro Lions Prize money ranged from $649.60 to $32.48
