District 27-B1 District Convention

 41st Annual Convention

Lions and Lioness of 27-B1 and friends of B1 held their 41st Annual Convention of District 27-B1 at the Heidel House in Green Lake. Our guest was Second Year International Director Jerome Thompson from Moulton, Alabama. The theme of the conference was "Preparing for the Hundredth Year of Lions Clubs International Celebration in Chicago".

Registration was 218 Lions, Lioness and guests.

Every club was asked to bring a gift to be included in our successful “Bucket Raffle.”

Friday began with the cabinet meeting and a Hospitality Party.  The opening business session began at 8:00 a.m. with a flag ceremony with the flags carried in by Lions who are Veterans.  Zone Chair Ellen Chaney from Sheboygan Evening and District Governor Elect Fred Gebhart from Stockbridge were presented with President's Certificates of Appreciation.

A Birch-Sturm Fellowship were awarded to IPDG Marv Henke from the district.

The passing of 46 Lions and 2 Lioness were recognized at the Necrology Service. 

$32,525 was donated by 13 clubs.  The Cleveland Lions Club bid the highest for the Bell at $5,200.

Outstanding seminars were held after the luncheon banquet.  LEBW President PDG Dierk Van Cleef presented "Bigger and Better" from the Eye Bank.  Lion Brian McKay from Verona Lions Club presented "Making Social Media Effective for Your Club".  Wisconsin Lions Camp Director Lion Andrea Yenter presented "What are Lions Doing Better."

64 delegates voted - results of the voting are:
Fred Gebhart as District Governor Elect
Dave Lee as First Vice District Governor Elect
Michael De Baere as Second Vice District Governor Elect
There was no nomination for Wisconsin Lions Foundation Director
Sheboygan Noon Lions was elected for 2017-2018 District Bowling.
Pin Design # 4 won the 2018 district pin contest.
Poster #4,  Yuki Sasoko, 13, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Middle School won the Peace Poster contest.
Advisory vote for the 2017 convention on November 10 & 11 - Holiday Inn, Manitowoc

The District Raffle was drawn after the dinner. 1st Place Neshkoro Lions , 2nd, Ripon Lioness, 3rd, Elroy Ringmeier, 4th, Fond du Lac Lioness, 5th and 6th, Oakfield Lions.
